Welina e ka pua kaumana (Welcome dear student)!
This medicine story is very much a huaka'i (a journey) into the cross-over places. Our shared journey of Ho'omoku ... the process of making island-- requires knowing the value of story. This one "The Joy Weed Journal" was written as a personal huaka'i. It is autobiographical in a very Hawaiian way. My ancestral roots lie close to the surface, even as they reach deep into the dark rich fertile earth. As we build on the small ways which grow from coral reef to island, 'olelo (words, story, speech) is one of the values embedded in the meaning and 'ike of the word HO'OMOKU. This myth mo'olelo (story) weaves meanings.
Please chant E HO MAI (click) before you read the 'doses' or short chapters of the Journal.
Ask for what you need to know, and then let your mind relax, and be with the story. Read it intuitively, enjoy it without analyzing or criticizing.
We will discuss your huaka'i in class, and hear what experiences you had with Pale Wawae, the Border Witch. Conversation and meaningful dialogue help grow our island. Then, you will grow your own story to share with us.
